those who know my full name will know that my english and chinese name actually sounds the same. not that i dislike or am ashamed by my name (in fact i do love my name very much ok), but in certain circumstances when people read my full name out (especially when they start with my surname first), lots of giggling followed behind and it can be kinda embarassing. i've experienced that in secondary school, oh and also in poly (you know who you are lor, laugh somemore lah haha).

i was in my mum's office doing my revision when this conversation popped up:

me: why u give me this (my full) name leh?
(i forgot why we got to the topic on names)

mum: because i want to have the same pronounciation for your english and chinese names mah.

me: but people always laugh and make fun of me when they hear my full name lah. so pai seh leh.

(mum says out my full name, then laughs hysterically)

mum: go and change your name lor. what you want to change it to?

(mum thinks for awhile, then laughs hysterically again)

mum: change your name to 小花 lor. HAHAHA!

me: 沈小花. HAHAHAHA! eileen sim xiao hua.

me: then brother leh? 沈小草 ah?

mum and me: HAHAHAHAHA!
